One Room Challenge Spring 2019 Week 4: Let’s Paint

Its week 4 of the Spring 2019 One Room Challenge. More then halfway done, and man its been hectic up in here. Massive changes are taking place in my tiny powder room. Ahh I am so excited to see the end result, its so close I can see it. As always, please go check out the featured designers and guest participant back on the ORC blog. Awesome transformations on their way over there. But anyway lets dive into what was done this week.
Finished Faux Shiplap Chair Rail

Last week I had started the DIY faux shiplap chair rail, and was able to complete it this week. Man what a statement. And thats without paint. It still feels dark in there, but the colors that I have chosen will brighten the space up real quick. Speaking of colors, I had to change them from the original design you saw from the first week. I did stay with the Creamy from Sherwin Williams since thats basically the color on all my walls downstairs. However, I changed the clary sage color to something more brighter. I love the sage color but I felt that the color was still too dark for the small space. I went with Contented from Sherwin Williams. Its a nice light muted sage color that matched the inspirational picture much better.
On a side note: I did want to say that I will not be doing the faux terra-cotta tile floors. I am disappointed, but I really wanted to stay in the 300ish budget and we just weren’t going to be able to afford to do it. Its ok though. I still will do it down the road so stay tuned to my DIY/ craft or home upgrade section.
Let’s Paint Shall We
So now that the chair rail was done, we prepped to start painting the top portion of the walls.

Next prime the faux shiplap chair rail. Getting brighter.

And now to add some color to the space. It amazing how color can bring some life to dull spaces. The lighting isn’t the greatest but we’ll take care of that next week.

It doesn’t seem like much, but it felt like a lot was accomplished this week. I still can’t believe its week 4. I am almost sad that its almost over. Almost. Way more excited to see my tiny half bath have some zing to it. Above you will see the estimated cost breakdown thus far. I know that I’m going to go over by a little. Whats new? But hey next week is going to be fun. We are adding the jewelry, if you will, to the area. Plus a DIY bath storage that looks like the vanity from Fixer Upper’s Hot Sauce House powder room. Your not gonna want to miss that. If you haven’t already, go ahead and sign up to get updates on new post plus tips and trick not on the blog. Not to mention access to the library resource and furniture plans. So until next time, peace peeps!
